Don’t say we don’t (trick or) treat you!
Alexandra from LexiiJadeMUA has shared how to recreate this Glam Skull just in time for fright night!
Start off with your regular foundation and concealer base, don’t set it with any powder yet, as you want the colours to really pop, and this works better on a tacky base.
Next, apply the brows using our Define Brows Artistry Palette. Use your concealer to carve under the brow and clean up any mistakes or mess with concealer and a small flat rounded edge brush.
Use the black eyeliner pencil from our Beauty Superstars set to mark out the shape of the skull shadows, you want more shadow space where your skull naturally dips inwards, and less where the bones protrude, and bring the line down underneath your cheekbone, and then straight down the face about half an inch away from your mouth.
Mark out the shape of the teeth too, starting in the centre of your top lip is easiest, make the teeth a bit rounder at the bottom, and thinner at the top to look like a realistic tooth root, repeat this process for the bottom teeth making them slightly thinner than the top. Then, black out the nose to make the nose cavity shape.
Then, using the blending brush from our Professional Brush Vault, take the shade ‘Nimble’ from our Sultry palette and begin to blend this next to your black marking to start creating the shadow of the skull. Blend this down towards the jawline and hairline with shade ‘Queen’ from the Pro Pigment palette. Then get a base shade that is a close match to your skin tone and blend that into the purple (Nimble).
Grab a clean eye buffing brush and buff everything together in circular motions to get a seamless blend.
For the teeth, take shade ‘Queen’ and a small pencil brush and blend into the black markings to smudge them upward. Use a white eyeliner pencil to define each tooth, and then using your small pencil brush again take your base shade and blend into the bottom or top corners of each tooth to give them shape and shadow to make them look more realistic. Lastly take the black liquid liner from our Orchid Eyes set and lightly define in-between each tooth again.
Next set the nose cavity with shade ‘Nimble’ and a flat brush to pack the colour on.
Moving onto the eye, apply an eye primer all over the lid, all the way up to the brow bone and out towards the tail of the brow. Then take shade ‘Nimble’ again and a blending brush and blend it from the outer corner into the crease. Blend shade ‘Queen’ above the crease and onto the lid. Take a little more of the eye primer and a small flat rounded edge brush and pat a little onto the inner corner of the eye, then using your finger smudge on the pink shimmer shade from the Orchid Eyes set. Blend the ‘Nimble’ under the eye. Finish with a wing of black liquid liner, white eye pencil in the waterline, and mascara.
To give the “bones" of the skull some more shape, take a shade 2 or 3 shades darker than your skin tone and using a small dome brush blend it around the edge of the skull about half a cm away from your dark shadow. Then using a large dome highlight brush, apply highlight to the top of the cheekbone, the brow bone and a little on the forehead. And then add a little to the base of each tooth with a small pencil brush.
Finish off the look with shade ‘nightlife’ from the Sultry palette in the centre of the mouth and false lashes of your choice!
