Contour and highlight 101

Think of contouring and highlighting as staples to your makeup routine…

Here’s what you need to know:

Highlight the centre of your face to attract more light, this will bring out your features.

Contour will create shadows which knock back the light and will emphasise your features.

Here are our tips on getting contour right!

  • Use a bronzer that is two tones darker to shade areas you’d like to define such as your nose, cheekbones and forehead
  • Stick to matte bronzers to keep it as natural as possible. Shimmer ones can make you look greasy!
  • Work near your hairline for a chiselled and natural contour
  • Contour in a 3 shape – Start at your temples, under the cheekbone and jawline

How to get that glow in easy steps:

  • You can use concealer or highlighter to accentuate areas of your face. If using a concealer make sure it’s two shades lighter!
  • Highlight parts of the face you want to naturally catch the light
  • Use a fluffy brush or a fan brush to give the most natural look when using powder highlighters
  • For cream/liquid highlighters use a sponge to dab it on or the tips of your fingers
